Election Commission Launches ‘Mission-929’ to Take Voter Turnout in Tripura to over 90% The Election Commission (EC) is focusing on 929 polling booths across Tripura, setting a target of 92 per cent voter turnout in the assembly elections due early this year. These booths recorded a voter turnout of less than 89 per cent, which was the average across 3,328 booths in the 2018 assembly polls. Star named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which was marked as ‘Good Governance Day‘ across the country, the Aurangabad unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named a star after the ‘Bharat Ratna’ recipient. The distance of the star from Earth is 392.01 light years. It is the closest star to the Sun. The star with the coordinates 14 05 25.3 -60 28 51.9 has been registered in the International Space Registry on December 25, 2022. The star gets the name Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. 39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol underway The 39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy is being conducted from 08 – 19 December 2022. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, an indigenously built Missile Corvette participated in the pre-deployment briefing at Belawan, Indonesia. The CORPAT will be executed along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) from 15 to 16 December 2022 and will conclude with a debrief at Port Blair. Along with INS Karmuk, L-58 (indigenously built Landing Craft Utility vessel) and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft will be participating in the CORPAT.

ISRO to launch country’s first privately built rocket today The Indian Space Research Organisation is set to launch country’s first rocket built by a private company on Friday. Announcing the development, Union minister of state (independent charge), science and technology, atomic energy and space Dr Jitendra Singh said that the first launch of the private rocket, Vikram-suborbital (VKS), will happen from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 11.30am on Friday. Sriharikota: India’s first private rocket Vikram-S developed by Skyroot Aerospace ahead of its lift-off, at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
