All bank accounts to be linked to Aadhaar by 31 March 2021

The Finance Ministry has been directed to link all bank accounts with Aadhaar by March 31, 2021. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave these instructions to all banks. He said that the accounts which need to be linked with PAN should also be completed by 31 March.

Aadhaar card is an identity card issued by the Government of India to the citizens of India. It has a unique 12-digit number that the Unique Identification Authority of India issues. The Finance Minister said that it is mandatory for banks to link every bank account to Aadhaar by 21 March 2021.
