Shrine of Martyrs- National War Memorial

The capital of India, Delhi is a unique city in itself. There are many places in Delhi that attract people to visit. Its beautiful tourist spots, lush markets, big malls and much more  have always been successful in attracting people. Many historical buildings such as Red Fort, Qutub Minar tell the history of this city, while the city also has a memorial India Gate, Amar Jawan Jyoti dedicated to the heroes of the country, which is popular all over the world.

To commemorate and pay tribute to those heroes, a National War Museum has been constructed near India Gate, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on 25 February 2019.  National War Memorial is memorial to honour, appreciate and remember the spirited and valiant sons and daughters of India who had the distinction of serving the country in “military uniform”, and are no longer with us. It is an endeavour to ensure that supreme sacrifices of our soldiers and their families do not fade away and are given their rightful place in our nation’s collective consciousness.

 FACTS ABOUT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL

Spread over 40 acres, this monument is built at a cost of about 176 crores. It took a year to build this complete memorial. This museum can hold around 250 people at a time. There are 16 Honor walls built on which 25,942 brave warriors are mentioned. In this memorial, the names of all the martyrs of all branches of Indian Armed Forces have been inscribed together. This monument is divided into 4 cycles (part).

• AMAR CHAKRA (CIRCLE OF IMMORALITY)
• VEERTA CHAKRA (CIRCLE OF BRAVERY)
• TYAG CHAKRA (CIRCLE OF SACRIFICE)
• RAKSHAK CHAKRA (CIRCLE OF PROTECTION)

1. AMAR CHAKRA: Amar Chakra is built in the inner side of the museum. The Amar Jawan Jyoti is installed in this cycle . This light will always burn in the memory of the soldiers.
2. VEERTA CHAKRA:. It mentions all about the four wars of India.
3. TYAG CHAKRA: Around 26 thousand martyred soldiers have been named in this cycle.
4. RAKSHA CHAKRA: It includes 700 trees planted in it which resembles the soldiers deployed in the security of India.

THINGS  MENTIONED IN MEMORIAL MUSEUM

The names of the martyrs and all about their birth to martyrdom mentioned in the museum. Their names were embossed on bricks. There is also a gallery where the valor and bravery of the soldiers is depicted on the walls. Here the names, posts and regiments of the brave soldiers are also engraved on granite. These brave soldiers had contributed significantly to the India-Pakistan war of 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999, the Indo-China war of 1962 and peace in Sri Lanka. Statues of soldiers who have been awarded the Gallantry award  are also installed here. In this memorial  you will get to know the stories of valor, sacrifice and patriotism of the soldiers of the country. This memorial will always remind the people of India how many mighty soldiers have been born by this soil. This memorial has been made so that its structure cannot be tampered with.

FOR VISITING

This memorial will be open for  the public for seven days. There is no entry fee to come here. You can also see this retreat ceremony in the evening. This memorial will be open from 9 am to 6.30 pm from November to March and from 9 am to 7.30 pm from April to October. Such war memorials will always remind the people of the martyr soldiers of the country and the names of those heroes will always be recorded in the pages of history.

Surely, coming to this place, one will realize the power of the brave soldiers deployed in all kinds of weather day and night under the protection of India.

Memorial is a shrine of every martyrs where we can pay tribute to these heroes.
