General Bipin Rawat awaiting first CDS of India’s Armed forces

On 15th August our Prime Minister announced a new post in defence as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) about which we have already posted before . India and Indian defence forces are ready to get their first CDS i.e. General BIPIN RAWAT. 

General Bipin Rawat

1. He is presently holding the post of Army Chief  and also the chairman of  the Chiefs of  Staff Committee.
2. Before his tenure ends he is on visit of military establishments .
3.  H is the 27th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.

About Chief of Defence Staff

• It is a 4 star post and also apart of defence management.
• The CDS is a person who integrate all the three forces i.e.,  army , navy , airforce.
• The services and the joint operations of all three forces will be  observed by CDS.
• Eligibility of CDS
  •  It can be a person of high rank  and also from defence only.
  • It should have the ability to  understand the depth of the issues and what is the best option to solve any issues.
  • They  should have capacity to resolve the issues of  other forces of which a person is not related .
  • CDS needs to increase the coordination among the all three wings of Indian army so that the limited resources of the defence can be optimally utilised and good results can be shown during any war like situation.
• He acts as the military advisor on issues related to defence and strategic for Defence Ministry and also for our Prime Minister.

This is not the first time that the CDS proposal  announced . It was also proposed at the time of Kargil war but due to some political reasons it was unable to fprward.
