India and Japan signed an MoU on 15 January 2021 to enhance cooperation in the field of information and communication technology. The MoU was signed by Union Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Japan’s Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Takeda Rayota and exchanged it through a video conference.
Under this agreement, India and Japan will work together on projects such as developing 5G networks, communication security, fibre cabling undersea and smart cities. Under this agreement, the focus will be on increasing cooperation especially in 5G, telecom communication security and submarine optical fibre cable sector.
The Indian Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Communications of Japan combined 5G technology, telecom security, submarine optical fibre cable systems for the Indian islands, spectrum management, smart cities, high-altitude platforms for broadband in remote areas, disaster management and public security Will strengthen cooperation.
It has been agreed that other than ministry-level cooperation, organizations like C-DOT and ITI Limited of the Government of India will also be part of this cooperation with industrial partners of Japan.
Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the timely start of the work of connecting Andaman and Nicobar to submarine optical fiber cable as an excellent example of cooperation between India and Japan.
He said that during the Kovid-19 epidemic, India increasingly incorporated new digital technologies such as Aadhaar bridge, cash payment system, Aadhaar payment system, digital hearing in courts and digital payment to ensure that there is no cash problem. .
The statement said that the two countries will also expand mutual cooperation in smart cities, high-altitude forums in deprived areas, broadband, disaster management and public safety.
