National Consumer Day was observed in India on 24 December 2020. This day gives opportunity to the consumer movement and highlights its importance. Along with this, it motivates every consumer to be aware of their rights and responsibilities.

The objective of the Consumer Protection Act is to provide effective protection to consumers against various forms of exploitation such as defective goods, reduction in services and unfair trade practices.
