The AFCAT i.e. Air Force Common Admission Test in its abbreviated form is a commissioned level examination conducted by the IAF (Indian Air Force) twice in a year for the selection of male as well as female officers into all branches of the Indian Air Force except for Medical branch and Dental branch. AFCAT examination is an officer recruitment gateway in three branches of Air Force – Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only), Ground Duty (Technical branch - Permanent & Short Service Commission) and Ground Duty (Non-Technical Branch - Permanent & Short Service Commission).

For Flying Branch -A candidate of Science Stream with subjects Mathematics and Physics can apply for AFCAT. For Other Branches - A candidate must be a graduate in any stream from a recognized university.

Flying Branch: A candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 60% marks in Mathematics and Physics. Other Branches- A candidate must have passed graduation course (UG) with the at least minimum passing marks.

A person having foreign citizenship cannot apply for AFCAT but If He/She has an Indian passport and documents supporting his/her claim of Indian citizenship then they can apply for AFCAT.

AFCAT (Air Force Common Entrance Examination) is an entrance test for aspirants willing to join Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-Technical).
